Miracles come in small ways............

Some exciting things from this week:

-        Halloween!!  We celebrated by staying home where it is safe and watching a church movie complete with popcorn and soda pop.  We didn’t believe it was a good night to be out tracting or teaching.  The city here confines all trick or treating to one specific neighborhood, which the police block off and watch very closely to keep the kiddos safe.
-        We drove to Sacramento to attend the temple with the Sentz’s, some good friends of ours from our congregation.  This gave us a chance to get to know them better, help boost them up spiritually, and to discuss ministering a bit.  Brother Sentz is our Elder’s Quorum President.
-        Time is quickly running short for completion of our mission.  We are starting to work on our exit plan.  We are identifying ministering brothers and sisters from our Ward that can continue to minister to the people we have been working with after our departure.  We continue to teach several dozen people preparing them to go to the temple.  Our car is going to get to make that trip many times in the next few weeks.

Sister Stewart-Longhurst had a great experience with a lady that is being taught about our church and is considering being baptized.  Below is an entry from her personal journal about part of the experience:

“As we finished our conversation she told me how much she appreciates one of the elderly sisters in the congregation, an 80-some-year-old tiny little frail woman who has developed Parkinson’s and thus struggles with memory and cognition, but who is an amazing woman of faith and service.  She mentioned how last Sunday this elderly sister approached her and asked her name.  She said she knew the reason the woman wanted her name was so she could pray for her.  Then this Sunday, this same woman approached her and without any other discussion said, “you shouldn’t wait”.  That was the entire conversation.  She took this statement as evidence that the elderly woman prayed for her and received that message from God for her, so she can know God wants her to be baptized now, not later.  These are answered prayers for sure.  Little miracles, tender mercies, messages from above.
